A few months ago, we had a revelation: There are a lot of Illinois CS alums in the Bay Area with a wealth of experience, but it can be hard to meet your greater Illini family. To that end, we’re kicking off something new: the Illinois CS Alumni Network.

The alumni network is meant to cultivate connections with fellow CS Illini you can lean on for everything from advice to stories. The group is run by alums for alums! You’ll see events pop up throughout the year, but we have an exciting kickoff in just a couple weeks.

We’ve invited Chris Lattner, a fellow UIUC alum, to share his story. Chris is the creator of LLVM and Swift (!!), former Senior Director at Apple and current Director at Google Brain. Chris’s PhD advisor and interim CS department head Vikram Adve will join us to open things up.

What: Meet fellow CS alumni + listen to Chris’s story

Where: Google Building CL2 (1200 Crittenden Ln, Mountain View, CA 94043)

When: Wednesday, May 16, 6:30-8:30pm. Chris will begin at 7pm.

RSVP: https://goo.gl/forms/8J58tEi2ajnomWZk2. Deadline to RSVP is Sunday, May 13.

Small bites and non-alcoholic drinks are included. Free parking is available around the building. For those taking public transit, we recommend a Caltrain to Mountain View followed by the free MV Go East Bayshore shuttle to Stop #10.

Want to join or volunteer for another event? Fill out this form and let us know. We are planning on hosting events in both San Francisco and South Bay in the future.

Send us questions at contact@illinoiscsalumni.org. We look forward to meeting you in a couple weeks!
